2018 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® Award

We’re proud to enter our ninth year as title sponsor of the Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® Award.  Nominations for the 2018 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® opened on January 2 and closed on January 31. The award is an opportunity to honor the military spouses who are committed to bettering the military community and our country. Previous recipients include an Air Force spouse committed to advocating for special needs children and spouse employment, a Marine Corps spouse who founded a nonprofit to help feed the homeless, a small business owner dedicated to empowering her fellow military spouses, a counselor who, with her husband, works to heal military marriages and the founder of the Semper Fi Foundation, an organization that has raised millions of dollars to help heal wounded warriors.

“Armed Forces Insurance has been the title sponsor of the Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® award for nine years, and we are so proud of the incredible accomplishments of our AFI Military Spouses of the Year®. These women and men are some of our nation’s very finest, who have dedicated their lives to the service and advocacy of our military families. We are pleased to honor their service and that of their service members,” said Lori Simmons, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Armed Forces Insurance.

The candidates were announced on February 2 and base voting will take place between February 5 and 9.  Base winners will be announced February 13 and the 18 finalists on February 16, three from each service - Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and National Guard. The individual Base and Branch candidates for this award, which is presented by Military Spouse Magazine, are selected through a combination of an online vote open to all Americans and a judges' panel.

The six branch winners will be announced on February 23, and the third and final voting round on March 2, results in the awarding of the 2018 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® during a live V.I.P. event hosted in Washington D.C. in May.
