Agent Spotlight - Sherri Hollis
Sherri works in Client Advocacy and is an agent who has been with AFI for over twelve years. With a family steeped in military tradition, Sherri certainly understands the value of service AFI provides to our members. Sherri holds the Insurance Institute of America designations of an API (Associate in Personal Insurance), AIS (Associate in Insurance Services) and has taken some courses towards her CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter).
Originally from Texas, Sherri has lived in the Leavenworth area for the past fifteen years. Interestingly, Leavenworth is the longest Sherri has lived anywhere! She attended high school in Alexandria, Louisiana and graduated college from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas with a degree in Management and Human Relations.
When it comes to careers, Sherri is a go-getter with a flexible and entrepreneurial spirit! Her first ‘job’ was digging for worms with her sister and selling them for one penny per worm. She has driven a school bus, taught music, taught school in El Salvador, worked in a halfway house, held various administration positions, was a city clerk, and now she works in insurance.
As a military spouse, Sherri and her family have called 9 states home as well as Okinawa and El Salvador. Ray, Sherri’s husband, spent 13 years in the Army. After leaving the service as a Staff Sergeant, Ray spent 18 years as a pastor. Sherri and her husband were married nearly thirty years. When her husband passed, she moved to Leavenworth. Sherri and her husband had three sons and have six grandkids. Two of her sons attended West Point. Her eldest son lives near Seattle and he and his wife have two children. Her middle son died at age 27, but his children live in Joplin, MO. Sherri’s youngest son teaches higher level math near Columbia, MO, where he lives with his wife and two daughters.
Sherri’s hobbies include reading, sewing and music. She has played the cornet, the piano, and is learning the hammered dulcimer.
